For casters who don't learn shield block (Priest, Sorcerer) or who turn their gear into garbage (Fury) it's probably the best tanking wield (the AC bonus is doubled because it's two-handed). For anyone who can shield block, wearing an actual shield is definitely better than the ~15 AC it offers over an AC wield and a Shield Of Heroes. (that mana tho..)
